Agency accounts
How an agency account differs from a freelancer account, and how the owner adds teammates to a hired project.
Creating an account
New accounts are created as a freelancer account or a client account. An agency option is not offered while you sign up. If you already own an agency account, it still appears in the account switcher and you can keep using it.
What matches a freelancer account
- Find clients and Search jobs appear after the agency profile is complete.
- The profile needs a picture, country, agency name, description, industry, hourly rate, skills, bandwidth, tax document type, and verified identity.
- Public applications spend 1 connect. Invitations do not.
- While the subscription is active, the account receives the same monthly connects as a freelancer account.
- Admins can log income and expenses and send Stripe invoices. There is no Lancer fee on those invoices.
Teammates on a hired project
When a client hires the agency and a new project is created, admins on the agency account become managers on that project. The person who applied is a member if they are not already an admin. If the hire is linked to a project that already exists, those people are added as members.
The agency owner can later add or remove their own agency teammates on that hired project. Those teammates can be a member or a viewer. They cannot be made a manager from the agency side, and the owner cannot invite outside connections or edit the project details. Client admins still manage the project.
Project roles are covered in Project user roles. Hiring is covered in Reviewing applications.
