Seats, connects, and job credits

What is included on a client or freelancer plan, and when a seat, a connect, or a job credit is used.

What each account pays

A freelancer account is $20 a month. While that subscription is active, the account receives 5 connects each billing period. An agency account is billed the same way for connects. A client account is free. Clients buy connects and job credits when they need them, and they do not receive the monthly connect grant.

Balances and purchases live under Subscription & Billing.

Seats

Seats are for client accounts, because those are the accounts that invite a team. The owner’s seat is included. Each additional member and each pending invitation uses another seat.

  • Manage team shows how many seats are used.
  • Extra seats are billed monthly. The price is shown when you add them from Subscription & Billing.
  • If there is no free seat, a new invitation cannot be sent until you add one.
  • Freelancer and agency accounts do not invite teammates, so they do not buy seats.

How someone accepts a team invite is described on the Account invitations page.

Connects

A connect is spent to start a new conversation or a public application. It is not spent to keep working with someone you already reached.

  • Requesting a connection costs 1 connect. Clients, freelancers, and agencies all spend it this way.
  • Applying to a public job costs 1 connect. Applying from an invitation does not.
  • After a connection is accepted, chat, later job invites, and project work do not spend another connect.
  • A declined connection request is not refunded. Asking again costs another connect.

How a connection request works is described on the Connections page. How an application spends a connect is described on the Applying to a job page.

Job credits

A job credit costs $50 and is only for client accounts. It is spent the first time a job is listed on the public board so anyone can apply. Creating a job and inviting existing connections does not use one.

  • Taking the job off the public board does not refund the credit.
  • Listing that same job again does not spend another credit.
  • Closing applications and opening them again also does not spend another credit if the job was already listed.

How to post the job is described on the Posting a job page.
