Clients

The client record a freelancer or agency uses for projects, hourly rates, and Stripe invoices.

What a client record is

A client record lives on a freelancer or agency account. It is the billing contact you attach to a project and to a Stripe invoice. It is separate from a client account that someone else logs into.

When a connection is accepted, Lancer creates this record for the freelancer or agency. A hire does the same if the accounts were not already connected. When you create a project, the Client field lists these records and shows the default hourly rate.

What the record stores

FieldWhat it is used for
Name, email, and phoneThe contact on the record.
CompanyAn optional company name.
Hourly rateThe default rate for projects linked to this client when no hired job sets the rate.
AddressA mailing address for invoices and correspondence.

Super Admins and Admins can change the record. Standard users on the account can view client records. Client accounts do not keep this list. They hire through My jobs and My connections.

Stripe

Invoices need the client to exist in Stripe. Refresh or import those customers under Settings, then Integrations, on the Stripe customers card. A linked record is marked Stripe linked.

Choosing this client on a new project is covered in Creating a project. Sending the invoice is covered in Invoices.
