Closing a job

Who can close a hired job, what happens to the listing and linked projects, and when reviews open.

Who can close it

A Super Admin or Admin on the client account can close the job. The hired freelancer or agency can close it too, and only while the job is in progress.

Closing cannot be undone. It stops new applications and, if the job was public, removes it from the job board. Linked projects stay open. Closing does not mark those projects completed.

Closing from the client account

From My jobs, close the job. If hired talent is on a linked project, Lancer asks whether to remove them from those projects.

  • Yes, remove talent closes the job and removes the hired person from the linked projects.
  • No, close only closes the job and leaves the project roster as it is.
  • If there is nobody to remove, you confirm with Yes, close job.

After the job closes, Lancer opens the reviews page for that job.

What opens next

Both sides are notified that a review is waiting. Each side has 14 days to leave a public review. The other side’s review stays hidden until they submit or that window ends.

Time can still be logged on a closed job, but those hours cannot be marked billable. How reviews work is covered in Job reviews.
